Hey everybody, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over the Blue Ox base plate kit here on a 2021 Ram 1500. So, a base plate is just one of the many things you need in order to successfully flat tow your Ram here. In addition to this, you're gonna need a tow bar with some safety cables, a breaking system and then lighting as well. So, what the base plate does is this is gonna be the permanent connection on the vehicle here that you're gonna attach to the motorhome via the tow bar. Now, one thing to consider, when you're selecting your base plate kit, is tow bar compatibility. Because generally speaking, you do have to have the same brand of base plate and tow bar. more

Hi there, Ram owners. Today, on your 2019 Ram 1500, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Roadmaster's crossbar-style base plate. And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. It is two separate pieces that will pass through your bumper where the safety hooks used to be on your truck. If you don't have safety hooks on your truck, it'll still go in the same location and poke out in that area. This is your traditional Roadmaster-style base plate, so it has the round pegs that can insert and click into place when you're ready to attach your tow bar. more

Your base plate is going to be one of five main components you'll need to flat tow your vehicle behind your motor home. I like that when not in use, it comes with some caps that go in the end. It gives it a nice clean look and it keeps out dirt and debris in there, so that way it's easier to connect your tow bar to it since it's not filling up with all that gunk. more

Demco Classic Base Plate Kit Installation - 2018 Ram 1500- Video

Rob here at etrailer.com, and today we're going to be taking a look at the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit on our 2018 Ram 1500. Now, our base plate is going to attach directly to our Ram's frame so we have a solid connection point for our tow bar to hook up to and we can safely flat tow it down the road.Our Demco Classic Base Plate is going to have permanently-mounted fixed arms. We can see them sticking out past the bumper right here. Now, a lot of other base plates on the market do have removable arms, so they're going to have a lot cleaner of a look when we're not towing, but one thing to keep in mind with those, is we are going to have to find a spot to store the arms for when we're not towing our Ram.Our Demco Base Plate is going to work with all Demco tow bars as well as other manufacturers' tow bars with an adapter that is sold separately. Whenever you go to hook up your tow bar, it's going to be extremely simple. We'll just slide it in place, line up the pin holes, put in our pin, and finally secure it down.Right here on the outside of where an attachment point is, we're going to have our safety cable attachment point. more

Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Ram 1500- Video

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Ram 1500, we're gonna be taking a look at the Roadmaster Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number RM-52589-5.So here's what our Roadmaster direct connect base plate looks like, also known as the Roadmaster EZ4 base plate. Now, this is gonna allow us to hook up our tow bar from our motor home and safely tow our Ram down the road. One of the big benefits to this base plate is that the brackets are gonna be hidden pretty well inside the bumper, and if we pull on this pull ring, we can rotate the arm and remove the arm, and it's almost like it's not there.Our Roadmaster base plate is gonna be compatible with Roadmaster motor home mount tow bars, so it's not gonna be compatible with the coupler style tow bar. It's also gonna work with some Blue Ox tow bars with an adapter that is sold separately. Our safety chain connection points are gonna be right on the outside of where we're gonna connect our tow bar, making it really easy to hook everything up.One measurement to keep in mind is gonna be the height of our base plate at the connection point, because you wanna make sure that your towing setup is gonna be nice and level. From the ground to the center right here is gonna be right about 18-1/2". more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel we're going to take a look at and also show you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms. Its part number is BX2412.Now, this is what our base plate's going to look like when not in use. As you can see, you're not really changing the overall look of your Ram all that much, but we're going to have a very convenient connection point for when we want to flat tow our truck. Our removable arms are designed to slide in, and then rotate in position. You can see to release you just pull on that pin, rotate them, and pull them out. It's a really quick, easy way to get your vehicle set up for flat towing, providing us a very nice, easy to get to connection point. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2013 Ram 1500- Video

Today on our 2013 Ram 1500 we'll be installing the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1986. To begin our install, we'll first go ahead and remove the lower air dam. The lower air dam is secured with two bolts and multiple push pin fasteners. We're going to remove the two bolts, which are on each corner. Here we have the push pin fasteners. There are going to be a total of 13 of them going across the lower portion of the bumper. To remove them, we're just going to take a flat-bladed screwdriver and pry out on the center of the push pin fastener. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2014 Ram 1500 BX2409- Video

Today on our 2014 Ram 1500, we're going to be installing the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part number BX2409. We'll go ahead and show you how the removable arms work. We'll slide it into the base plate, then twist the arm once it's in. Then, it locks into place with the pin. To remove it, you pull out on the ring and slide it out. You're locking this little groove with this tab with the groove that's cut on the inside of the base plate. It goes in like that, push inward, twist, and it locks into position. Now, we're going to begin over here on the driver side. more
